claire summit kilimanjaroSWS' Head of Structures, Claire reaches the Summit Of Kilimanjaro!

SWS' Head of Structures, Claire Demarquet is not known to hide away when the odd personal challenge comes along; so when she saw an opportunity to go on a trek to Mount Kilimanjaro, she was one of the first to sign up.

The trek took 8 days taking the group on the Lemosho Route across a diversity of landscapes including jungle, moorlands, volcano and lava ground.

When she reached the top, Claire describes the very real sense of achievement.
"I felt very emotional watching the sunrise from the Roof of Africa. It was breathtaking. The sky was huge, we could see the curvature of the Earth and this massive fire ball coming up. Seeing the curvature of the Earth from the ground was sensational. It made you realise just how amazingly beautiful our planet is".

Not to rest on her laurels, Claire has now also signed up next year to cycle from the North to South of Vietnam. However her ultimate dream is to achieve the Seven Summits (the highest mountains of each of the seven continents.)

SWS sends out a huge congratulations to Claire for her achievement also for raising much needed sponsorship funds for Dementia UK.
