Earlier this year, Air New Zealand announced that it would be the first airline to take delivery of Boeing's 787-9,Dreamliner aircraft.
As the global launch customer, ANZ wanted its customers to experience a new era in passenger comfort on its flights from Auckland-Perth (from 15 October) and to Shanghai and Tokyo (later this year.) This first aircraft will be one of ten 787-9 Dreamliners to join Air New Zealand's fleet.
Following its first Skycouch™ STC on the B777 back in 2010, SWS have been working with the airline to introduce Skycouch™ to further aircraft.
The new Dreamliner's Economy cabin has been designed to feature 16 rows of the unique and highly popular Kiwi designed Skycouch™ seats. An EASA STC has now been successfully obtained in time for the launch flight.
A few words from Air New Zealand about SWS' support....
“SWS has excelled in developing an innovative approach to achieving approval for the first Skycouch™ on the B777-300ER. Their unrivalled certification expertise and support continues to impress Air New Zealand and has directly resulted in further STC approvals for the installation of Skycouch™, on Air New Zealand’s new B787-9’s and the existing B777-200ER aircraft.”
