SWS PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR THE QUALIFICATION / DESIGN OF SEATING AND A NEW FLIGHT DATA ACQUISITION SYSTEM

THE AGUSTA A109E POWER…

DAS, a flight data acquisition system, would provide SWS’ clients with a training platform for test pilots on the Agusta A109 Power and was designed specifically around modular equipment and instrumentation located internal and external to the aircraft. Typically the system which involved PC communications, video and audio recording and would act as a teaching aid for test pilot and test engineer students.

Typically the system would capture and manage flight data, including algorithm functions, PC communications as well as audio video recorder control. This provided a teaching aid for test pilot and test engineer students being taught flight test techniques, as well as being able to demonstrate specific responses, characteristics and perform assessments of the aircraft systems.

THE PROCESS…

SWS provided the certification expertise to qualify the design including Rear Observer’s seat, workstation and the DAS equipment rack. In addition, SWS provided stress, structural evaluation and verification support as well as the qualification of the avionics, in line with the appropriate industry standards. The installation was carried out and commissioned at the Sloane Helicopters Ltd facility at Sywell, Northampton.

THE OUTCOME…

SWS successfully delivered the design and qualification support required for a unique test pilot training installation.
